Most contemporary bathroom schemes now feature a wall hung or countertop basin. Even in traditional bathrooms, sinks that sit on top of furniture are popular, but there is still a place for the classic pedestal basin.
These basins come in a variety of bowl sizes, with the plumbing concealed behind the ceramic pedestal, and make handsome, standalone features in the bathroom. The other benefit of a pedestal sink is that you do not have to build a false wall to conceal the hot and cold water supply, as is necessary for a wall hung basin.
